REV-
2009-ongoing
Marisa Jahn, Executive Director and co-founder along with Stephanie Rothenberg and Rachel McIntire.
NYC & abroad
http://www.rev-it.org

REV- engineers imaginative approaches to advancing cultural equity through constituency-led campaigns for social justice, youth media arts, research & development, and activities that trammel the boundaries between the printed word and public sphere. A team of artists, advocates, media makers, low-wage workers, immigrants, and youth, REV works to spark the public imagination and accelerate social change. The organization derives its name from both the colloquial expression “to rev” a vehicle and the prefix “rev-“ which means to turn—as in, revolver, revolution, revolt, revere, irreverent, etc.

Pond: art, activism, & ideas
2000-2009
Marisa Jahn & Steve Shada - Co-Founders, Co-Directors
San Francisco & abroad
http://www.mucketymuck.org

Founded in 2000 by Steve Shada and myself, Pond is a 501(3)c nonprofit grassroots art-activist organization dedicated to showcasing experimental art.

Our mission is to create a non-competitive forum that fosters dialogue between artists and the greater community in an accessible and intimate environment. From 2001-2004, Pond has showcased the work of over 200 international artists through the production of over 23 gallery exhibitions, 3 international cultural exchanges, three city-wide public art projects, three lecture series, and various screenings and special events. In 2003, Pond shifted its programmatic focus towards experimental public art. This challenge to imagine curatorial alternatives allowed for a greater access by the public to experimental art and erased the boundaries between exhibiting and curating work. This mandate has led us to since curate exhibitions in other venues and public spaces.

Through endless volunteer hours and donations from surrounding organizations and individuals, Pond established itself as one of the Bay Area's premier venues for showcasing cutting edge art.
